JOSHUA ROBSON PRODUCTIONS strive toward producing existing theatre pieces and also developing original and unique new works.

JOSHUA ROBSON PRODUCTIONS continues that tradition championing new and diverse Australian talent including directors, choreographers, music directors, musicians, crew and performers, with continued access to the wisdom and advice of key leaders in our industry.

 

JOSHUA ROBSON

Senior Producer

Joshua is the proud director/ founder of Joshua Robson Productions. JRP has staged and toured productions of Guilty Pleasures, Violet, Songs for a New World, Bonnie & Clyde, City of Angels, Little Women, The Producers and most now, after sell-out seasons at Sydney Opera House and Hayes Theatre, the critically acclaimed production of In The Heights which just closed in Melbourne's Comedy Theatre before coming to the Gold Coast.

Since graduating from the VCA in 2011, Joshua has also forged a highly successful career on stage, which includes winning the Rob Guest Endowment Award in 2014.

Joshua is also a performer, most recognised for his performance as 'The Phantom' in The Phantom of the Opera with Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour (2022), for which he was nominated for Best Lead Performance in a Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards.

His performance credits also include Quasimodo in Quasimodo the musical, performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm in A Little Night Music (Hayes Theatre Co), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Victorian Opera), Metropolis (Little Eggs Collective), Shrek the Musical (GFO), Muriel's Wedding the musical (Global Creatures), My Fair Lady (Opera Australia/GFO), Les Misérables (Cameron Mackintosh), Dream Lover: The Bobby Darin MusicalFO) and King Kong: Live on Stage (Global Creatures).

His concert credits include Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel- A Concert (Enda Markey Presents), Superstars - A Celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice (The Very Popular Theatre Company) alongside Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino and Chloé Zuél, and most recently, Disney in Concert! at Arts Centre Melbourne and Sydney Opera House (MM Creative Australia).

SAM HOOPER

Producer of new work

Sam is a 2011 graduate of the VCA Bachelor of Music Theatre, and in 2018, he returned to the VCA to complete his Honours project “The development and enhancement of movement narrative in live theatre”.

Sam was the writer and performer of Death Suits You which won Show of the Week at VAULTS Festival in London and the Spirit of the Fringe award at Edinburgh fringe in 2023. Other performing credits include King Kong Live Onstage (Swing - Global Creatures), Cats (Swing – GWB Entertainment/RUG), Cabaret (Swing – Showtune Productions), Funny Girl (Ensemble – Production Company), Mamma Mia! (Pepper – Louise Withers AA).

Since joining Joshua Robson Productions in 2021, Sam has directed and choreographed their productions of Bonnie and Clyde, and City of Angels for which he received a Sydney Theatre Award nomination for best choreography. Other directing credits include 1&Only (VAULTS), In Loving Memory (Hayes Theatre Co), Nine (Bird College), A Chorus Line (Bird College), Catch Me If You Can (OCPAC), They’re Playing Our Song (Company 11). He was the Associate Director on A Woman Walks Into A Bank (Theatre503) which won the 503 International Playwright award, and Assistant Director on The Apologists (UK Tour).

Sam is thrilled to be heading the development of new work at JRP, with many exciting new projects in the pipeline.

THE TEAM BEHIND ‘THE PRODUCERS’ READY TO TAKE ON ANOTHER KOOKY PRODUCTION

Get ready for a fun, mysterious, and freaky spin on one of the world's most famous families with The Addams Family! Brought to you by the acclaimed team behind the 2025 Hayes Theatre season of The Producers, this production is directed by the visionary Julia Robertson (Metropolis) and choreographed by the dynamic Shannon Burns (Bright Star). Joining them as music director will be Zara Stanton (In the Heights, Dear Evan Hansen) and casting director Rhys Velasquez (Evolution Casting).

Join Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, and the rest of the delightfully macabre clan as they navigate love, family, and chaos in their own peculiar way. With toe-tapping numbers and spine-tingling laughs, this show promises an unforgettable night of kooky from start to end.
