ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
NEXT TO NORMAL

Joshua Robson Productions is looking for an assistant director for their upcoming production of Next to Normal directed by Jacinta John at the Hayes Theatre in 2027.

This role is for an early career creative who is looking for more experience in a professional setting.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Working in collaboration with the Director and Creative Team to realise the artistic aims of the production

  • Attending, supporting and participating in production and creative team meetings, rehearsals, technical rehearsals and preview performances of the Production up to and including the Opening Night Performance, as required

  • Supporting the director and stage management team with scheduling and overseeing rehearsals

  • Working with covers, noting, and maintaining the show throughout the run

Key dates:

Interviews w/c October 5th 2026

Rehearsals: w/c June 14th 2027
Tech: w/c July 5th 2027
First Preview: July 10th 2027
Opening: July 13th/14th 2027
Final performance: August 8th 2027

Eligibility:

Applicants must be Sydney based
Must be fully available for the duration of the production (see key dates)
