JOSHUA ROBSON PRODUCTIONS strive toward producing existing theatre pieces and also developing original and unique new works.

JOSHUA ROBSON PRODUCTIONS continues that tradition championing new and diverse Australian talent including directors, choreographers, music directors, musicians, crew and performers, with continued access to the wisdom and advice of key leaders in our industry.

 

JOSHUA ROBSON

Senior Producer

Since graduating from the VCA in 2011, Joshua has forged a highly successful career on stage, which includes winning the Rob Guest Endowment Award in 2014.

Joshua most recent performance was as Quasimodo in Quasimodo the musical, performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. Other stellar credits include Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm in the Hayes Theatre production of A Little Night Music for which he received rave reviews, Victorian Opera’s production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Little Eggs Collective Production of Metropolis in the role of Joh Fredersen and prior to that, Joshua starred as the titular role in The Phantom of the Opera with Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, for which he was nominated for Best Lead Performance in a Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards.

Joshua has toured nationally in Shrek the Musical (GFO), Muriel’s Wedding the musical (Global Creatures), My Fair Lady (Opera Australia/GFO), Les Misérables (Cameron Mackintosh), Dream Lover: The Bobby Darin Musical (GFO) and King Kong: Live on Stage (Global Creatures).

In 2024, Joshua joined Anna O’Byrne and Marina Prior in a lavish concert presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL – A Concert for Enda Markey Presents and performed in Superstars – A Celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice for The Very Popular Theatre Company alongside Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino and Chloé Zuel. In March 2025, Joshua will be performing at Arts Centre Melbourne and Sydney Opera House with Disney in Concert!

Joshua is the proud director/ founder of Joshua Robson Productions. JRP has staged and toured productions of Guilty Pleasures, Violet, Songs for a New World, Bonnie & Clyde, the multi-award winning production of In the Heights, City of Angels and Little Women. In 2025, you can catch The Producers at Hayes Theatre from March 29.

SAM HOOPER

Producer of new work

Sam is a 2011 graduate of the VCA Bachelor of Music Theatre, and in 2018, he returned to the VCA to complete his Honours project “The development and enhancement of movement narrative in live theatre”.

Sam was the writer and performer of Death Suits You which won Show of the Week at VAULTS Festival in London and the Spirit of the Fringe award at Edinburgh fringe in 2023. Other performing credits include King Kong Live Onstage (Swing - Global Creatures), Cats (Swing – GWB Entertainment/RUG), Cabaret (Swing – Showtune Productions), Funny Girl (Ensemble – Production Company), Mamma Mia! (Pepper – Louise Withers AA).

Since joining Joshua Robson Productions in 2021, Sam has directed and choreographed their productions of Bonnie and Clyde, and City of Angels for which he received a Sydney Theatre Award nomination for best choreography. Other directing credits include 1&Only (VAULTS), In Loving Memory (Hayes Theatre Co), Nine (Bird College), A Chorus Line (Bird College), Catch Me If You Can (OCPAC), They’re Playing Our Song (Company 11). He was the Associate Director on A Woman Walks Into A Bank (Theatre503) which won the 503 International Playwright award, and Assistant Director on The Apologists (UK Tour).

Sam is thrilled to be heading the development of new work at JRP, with many exciting new projects in the pipeline.
